Could not shake that burrito craving, so I made some! Whole wheat tortilla, leftover roast beef, fresh onions, green peppers, tomatoes, & spinach along with Greek yogurt instead of sour cream and organic sriracha ♥ #foodporn #healthyfood

This powerful image is from one of the memorials last night for 16-year-old Maren Sanchez.
Maren was stabbed to death in her high school stairwell on the morning of the prom. She was killed for allegedly turning down a young man’s invitation to be her prom date.
Her classmates paid tribute by dressing up, and bringing out the gown she would have worn to the prom. Even though this memorial was a sorrowful and traumatic event, the students smiled through their tears for the camera because… Maren would have wanted them to be happy on their prom night.
I grew up in Milford, CT, and I live about 15 minutes away from Jonathan Law High School. My partner attended JLHS and I have friends with family members who currently attend.
With the Sandy Hook shooting in December 2012, I can’t believe that here we are again, just a year later, with another tragedy in a Connecticut school.
My heart goes out to all of those affected.

Sharing memorial images for a young woman that never should have died.

She was killed for allegedly turning down a young man’s invitation to be her prom date.
ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? YOUNG GIRLS GETTING FUCKING KILLED BECAUSE MEN CAN’T HANDLE REJECTION.
FUCK THIS WORLD.

I don’t think it’s fair to blame this on all men, or any men except for the one person who did it. This is a horrifying tragedy and my heart goes out to the young woman’s family and friends, but I can only assume that the guy who killed her was mentally deranged. I’m a big feminist, but I don’t think we can chalk this up to sexism. No one in their right mind stabs someone to death for not going to prom with them. If you want a social issue to blame it on, blame it on our society’s failure to provide proper mental health care to our young teenagers and other troubled youth.

Don’t you dare blame this on mental illness. Don’t you dare further stigmatize mental illness because you are unwilling to accept that our society creates an environment where violence against women is the norm.
Maren Sanchez is dead because of male entitlement. It’s the same reason thousands of women are dead, killed by men who believed, “If I can’t have her, no one can.”
Mass media and society at large treats women as objects instead of autonomous human beings. And treating women as objects instead of people leads to the idea that we are property, that we are things. It dehumanizes us. And when we lose our humanity, it’s much easier to justify killing us.
Violence against women is a men’s issue.
So don’t you dare blame this on mental illness. Violence against women is commonplace in our society, but when it makes news headlines like this, people are quick to say, “Oh, this man was mentally unstable. This was an isolated incident.” It’s not isolated and mental illness is not to blame.
Shame on you for using the “mentally unstable" excuse, as if it’s not already stigmatized enough. Shame on you.

when supernatural ends forever, somewhere in the background of the finale there should be a news headline mentioning how carver edlund’s cult book series is going to be adapted into a tv show
